HOW TO? BAKE TOFU
Where do you get your proteins from? Food.
Including tofu and many other options (beans, chickpeas, spinach etc) that you can buy at your local supermarket.
Tofu is delicious once you know how to season it.
Below the best way to fry and spice up this cheap yet fulfilling plant power protein 💪🌱.
1 package tofu
1/4 cup sambal
1/4 cup liquid smoke
2 tbsps ketjap or soy sauce
2 tbsps sesame oil + extra for frying
1 tsp sugar or maple syrup
1 tsp ginger, fresh minced
1 tsp red pepper powder
2 garlic cloves, minced
extra needed: something heavy (problems weighing heavy on your heart won’t do), scale, measuring cups & spoons, knives, cutting board, frying pan serves: 2-4 portions
Remove the tofu from packaging. Place between 2 paper towels. Wrap up in a clean towel.
Put the wrapped up package on a plate, and place a few heavy cooking booking (or anything else) on top.
Let sit for at least 30 minutes.
Grab a bowl and mix the sambal, liquid smoke, ketjap, sesame oil, maple syrup, ginger, red pepper and garlic.
Once the tofu is drained, cut into small cubes.
Heat a frying pan over medium-high heat and fry the dry tofu WITHOUT any oil, butter, water etc. for about 5 minutes.
Take of the fire and add to the marinade. Let sit for another 30 minutes.
Heat up a frying pan once again over medium-high heat and add the sesame oil. When the oil is hot enough, add the tofu.
After 5-10 minutes, reduce heat to medium-low and cook, mix and toss around until every side is crispy fried. Serve with rice, freshly steamed veggies and some fresh herbs 😋.
